Managing Liturgical Schedule Exceptions

Learn how to manage and update exceptions to your liturgical schedules in Tilma. Follow simple steps to keep your schedule accurate.

While your parish may have a standard schedule for Mass, Confession, and other devotions, sometimes things change. The pastor goes on retreat, Christmas falls on a Sunday, or other events occur. Tilma makes it easy to add exceptions to your liturgical schedules.

Depending on your site setup and diocese, exceptions can be managed in several places and may need to be updated in multiple locations.

Identifying Where to Set Exceptions:

  • Site Settings: Site Content:

    • If your Mass Times page has a Mass-Times tag next to the title, edit your Mass Times in Site Settings.

  • Mass Times Module:

    • If your Mass Times page has a Landing Page tag next to the title, make changes in the Mass Times module.

    • If your diocese uses Tilma to power their Mass-Finder, use the Mass Times module for updates.

Steps to Set Exceptions in Site Settings

  1. Open the Editor

    • Click Site Settings in the side menu, then click Site Content.

  2. Change your Schedules

    • Open the corresponding drop down.

    • Add or change your desired event.

Steps to Set Exceptions in Mass Times

  1. Open the Mass Times Engine

    • Click Content in the side menu, then click Mass Times.

  2. Select the Event to Modify

    • Click the particular Mass/Confession/Devotion time you'd like to set an exception for.

    • Click Edit Future Service

  3. Cancel or Modify the Event

    • Select the date you'd like to edit

    • Choose whether to Cancel or Modify the event

      • For a modification, choose the new date/time

    • Optionally set a reason.

    • Click Save
